Plz help me chop this file it`s a real headache

    Hi

i d/l this file from a .divx group so i figured

Virtual dub should handle it , but the problems

    are as follows

i can`t chop it as it is in Virtual Dub ,

because a good portion of the

bottom screen portion gets cut off , but to convert to

    mpeg(in TMpgEnc) doesn`t help either , as V dub

can`t cut it & use direct stream copy , & for the life of

me i can`t figure how to cut it in 2 with TmpgEnc

as the mpeg just keeps recreating it self , & avi chop

doesn`t even see the original filr i downloaded

How can i chop this large file ?

Also noteworthy is that virtual Dub can`t even see the file

under all usable types , i have to set to all files to load it

& thus i attatch a screen shot of it`s properties for all you

pros to read & advise on

    TIA -:

    1) Do you have the DivX v.5.01 (or 5.02) codec installed on your system?

    2) Do you have the latest (v.1_4_10) of VirtualDub installed?

"i can`t chop it as it is in Virtual Dub , because a good portion of the bottom screen portion gets cut off "

This is probably due to forcing VirtualDub to apply the wrong codec to the video...

      Hi

      Tnx for the reply

i have the latest codec 5.02 installed , i also

      am using virtual dub 1.4.8.0

i hope this helps inform you enough for a further response-

i also need to know something about codecs

How can i ever be sure i have the right codec installed ?

i have a few Flix , all different codecs , Ie one flick

needs Nimo codec to give me audio(& i can`t make a VCD

of it since no convert/burn program recognizes this codec)

So my inquiry is , is it possible to have a # of codecs

installed to keep ones self covered in the event of an oddball

Thanks for all your help -

"i also am using virtual dub 1.4.8.0"

As I mentioned, try v.1_4_10 - the one you're using is buggy

"one flick needs Nimo codec to give me audio"

There is no such thing as a "Nimo codec". There is a pack of several codecs called the Nimo codec pack.

          Hi i`m back & uncured

          Hi

i tried the latest Virtual Dub as suggested &

everything remains the same . V D can`t even see

the file under all useable types , i need to choose

all files , & the bottom half of the flick is still cut off

It may be noteworthy to say this flick automatically

associates itself with .divx playa , & every other flick

i`ve ever had associates it self with windows media

          player

It`s a very high quality flick , & not a hack job from what

i see , so what else can i try

Are there other program`s which may work ?

          TIA -
